CAN.HELP: Clever Packaging for Emergencies
The brief was to design a tin-can based product like those used to distribute food in places of natural disaster and national emergency, but to maximise the efficency of the secondary and tertiary uses.
CAN.HELP uses standard techniques to manufacture the can, but can be converted into a grill or source of heat. It also contains cutlery and a non-verbal simple set of instructions meaning the product could be taken off the shelf and deployed to any country without a linguistic barrier. The tin can also be converted into an emotional holding space, where a photo or trinket can be hung from the heart space, bringing a small element of normality to an otherwise horrific situation.
